Terms of Use

Effective date: October 27, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of rentalfoxcompare.com (the "Site"). The Site is operated by James Packer, doing business as Rental Fox, in Idaho, USA ("Rental Fox," "we," "us"). You can reach us at rentalfoxcompare@gmail.com.

By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you submit a listing or send a message through our contact form, you also agree to them by checking the box on that form. If you don't agree, don't use the Site.

1. Rental Fox is a directory

Rental Fox helps people find equipment rental shops and local owners, and compare published prices. Rental Fox is not a party to any rental. We do not:

  • rent, own, inspect, insure, deliver, or maintain any equipment;
  • take payment for rentals;
  • supervise how equipment is used.

Any rental is solely between you and the rental shop or owner, on their terms. Forwarding a message through our contact form does not make us part of that arrangement.

2. Prices and information may be wrong or out of date

  • Where the information comes from. Shop information and prices on the Site are copied from each rental shop's own public website, catalog, or published price sheet, as described on our How we get prices page. Owner listings show what the owner entered.
  • Dates. The date shown next to a price is the day we last checked it.
  • Changes and extra fees. Shops and owners can change prices, equipment, hours, and availability at any time. Delivery, tax, fuel, deposits, damage waivers, and other fees may be extra.
  • Distances and estimates. Distances are straight-line estimates, not driving routes. Job-cost estimates are simple arithmetic on published rates, not quotes.
  • Always confirm price, availability, and terms directly with the shop or owner before you rely on them.
  • No endorsement. A shop appearing on the Site does not mean it endorses or is affiliated with Rental Fox, or that we endorse it. Business names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify those businesses.

3. Safety

Equipment such as skid steers, excavators, lifts, splitters, chainsaws, and trailers can cause serious injury or property damage. Our guides and "which size do I need" pages are general information only. They are not safety, engineering, or legal advice.

  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions and the rental shop's or owner's instructions.
  • Use proper protective equipment.
  • Call 811 before you dig.
  • Check towing limits.
  • Get training where needed.

4. Other websites

The Site links to other websites, including rental shops, Google Maps, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, listings, or practices. Rental Fox does not load, check, or rank marketplace listings.

5. Owner listings

a. Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old, and you must own the equipment or be authorized to rent it out.

b. What you promise. When you submit a listing, you confirm that:

  • the information is accurate, and you will keep it current or ask us to remove it;
  • the prices you enter are the prices you are actually offering;
  • the equipment is legal to rent, safe, and in working condition;
  • you are responsible for the rental itself, including:
    • your agreement with the renter;
    • any deposit and delivery;
    • insurance and licenses;
    • taxes;
    • compliance with the law;
  • you own the photos you upload, or have permission to use them, and they show the actual equipment offered;
  • the phone number or email address you give us is yours, and you agree that we may forward renters' messages to it.

c. Your contact details stay private. We do not show your phone number or email address on the Site. Renters reach you through our contact form, and we forward their messages to you. What you share when you reply is up to you.

d. Review and removal. Listings are reviewed before they appear. We may refuse, edit for formatting, or remove any listing at any time, at our discretion. For example, we may do so if a listing appears inaccurate, unsafe, duplicated, or in breach of these Terms. Removing a listing does not cancel any rental you have already arranged.

e. License to your content.

  • You keep ownership of your listing text and photos.
  • You give Rental Fox a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, copy, display, resize, crop, and format them, for the purpose of operating and promoting the Site and your listing. This includes search results, comparison pages, and link previews on other sites.
  • The license ends when your listing is deleted. It does not cover copies that briefly remain in backups and caches, or copies that others have already shared.

f. Not allowed in listings. Do not submit:

  • equipment you don't have the right to rent, or that is stolen, recalled, or unsafe;
  • false or misleading prices, descriptions, or photos;
  • photos you don't have the right to use;
  • other people's personal information, or your street address, in the text or photos;
  • spam, links to unrelated sites, or listings for anything other than equipment for rent;
  • content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights.

6. Contacting owners through Rental Fox

  • How it works. To ask about an owner's listing, you send a message through our contact form. We forward your name, contact details, and message to the owner so they can reply to you directly. You must be at least 18 to use the form.
  • No guarantee. We do not guarantee that an owner will reply, that the equipment is available, or that a message will be delivered.
  • Use the form only for genuine questions about renting the listed equipment. Do not use it to:
    • send spam, advertising, or bulk messages;
    • harass, threaten, or deceive anyone;
    • send links to malware or phishing sites;
    • collect owners' contact details for any other purpose;
    • pretend to be someone else.
  • Filtering and review.
    • Messages pass through automated spam filtering.
    • We may read, hold, or decline to forward a message that is flagged or reported, or that appears to break these Terms.
    • We may block anyone who misuses the form.
  • Owners: use the contact details you receive only to respond to that inquiry about your equipment.

7. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • use the Site to break the law;
  • collect personal information from the Site or from relay messages for any purpose other than arranging a rental;
  • send spam;
  • try to get unauthorized access to the Site or its systems;
  • overload or interfere with the Site;
  • submit false clicks, messages, or listings;
  • pretend to be someone else.

8. Rental shops: corrections and removal

If you run a rental shop listed on the Site and something is wrong, or you want your published prices or listing removed, email rentalfoxcompare@gmail.com from your business email. We will review it promptly.

9. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

We respect copyrights. If you believe material on the Site infringes your copyright, email our copyright agent:

What your notice must include:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. identification of the copyrighted work;
  3. identification of the material you want removed, and where it is on the Site (a link is best);
  4. your contact information: address, phone number, and email;
  5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  6. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.

If your material was removed by mistake. If we remove material you posted and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may email a counter-notice to the same address. It must include:

  • your signature;
  • identification of the removed material and where it appeared;
  • a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification;
  • your name, address, and telephone number;
  • a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the district where your address is located, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.

Repeat infringers. We will remove the listings of, and refuse further listings from, people who repeatedly infringe.

10. Our content

The Site's design, text, guides, compilations, and software belong to Rental Fox or its licensors. Facts, such as a shop's published prices and addresses, belong to no one. Credits for third-party data, such as GeoNames ZIP code centers used under CC BY 4.0, appear on the Site. You may link to any page, and you may share individual pages for personal, non-commercial use.

11. Disclaimers

THE SITE, THE CONTACT FORM, AND ALL INFORMATION ON THE SITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, RENTAL FOX DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT ANY EQUIPMENT, SHOP, OWNER, RENTER, PRICE, MESSAGE, OR RENTAL.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW:

  • RENTAL FOX IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR DATA;
  • RENTAL FOX IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM ANY RENTAL, ANY EQUIPMENT, ANY MESSAGE, OR ANY DEALINGS BETWEEN SHOPS, OWNERS, AND RENTERS;
  • OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SITE IS LIMITED TO US$100.

Some states do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have that cannot be waived under the law of your state.

13. Indemnity

If you submit a listing, send messages through the Site, or misuse the Site, you agree to defend and indemnify Rental Fox against claims, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising from:

  • your listing or your messages;
  • your equipment or your rentals;
  • your breach of these Terms.

14. Governing law and where disputes are heard

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Site will be heard only in the state or federal courts located in Ada County, Idaho, and you and we consent to those courts. If you live in another state, such as Utah, the consumer protection laws of your state that cannot be waived still apply to you.

15. Notices

We may give you notices by email, using the address you gave us, or by posting them on the Site. Send notices to us at rentalfoxcompare@gmail.com.

16. Changes and ending use

  • Changes. We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects owners with active listings, we will email them before it applies to them. If you keep using the Site, or keep a listing up, after a change, you accept the new Terms.
  • Ending use. We may suspend or end anyone's access, listings, or use of the contact form for breach of these Terms.
  • What survives. Sections 2, 3, 5(e) (for remaining copies), and 10 through 14 survive.

17. General

  • If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • Not enforcing a term is not a waiver.
  • These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Rental Fox about the Site.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to a successor operator of the Site.
